Two quick questions :-)

Happy Saturday everyone! I hope the weekend is treating you well :-)

Question #1- is there a name for the feeling of cool water flowing under your skin? I get this on the left side of my neck. I seem to have it happening more often then not. When the muscle issue on my right side flares up, it gets interesting LOL The left side of the back of my neck feels like there is cool water flowing under the skin and at the same time the right side of my neck feels knotted and like a pulled muscle.

Question #2- has anyone had any luck with Zicam? My two youngest monkeys have had a cold, including a gunky sounding cough. I woke up this morning with a slight cough. Of course, this freaked me out because of my scheduled MRIs coming up this wednesday. Just my luck we finally get insurance to approve all 3 MRI's, and I'm coughing up a lung so they can't get good pictures! I just started taking Zicam this afternoon and I'm praying it helps. I'm just wondering if anyone has used it before and if you felt it works?

I don't know about Q #1 but it doesn't sound like something nice to deal with.

For Q #2 - I've tried Zicam in the past and it seemed to work but I've also had symptom start up with a vengence and then be gone the next day without taking it.  It seems I remember a warning about this OTC med.  Causing loss of smell?  Lawsuits?  Do they even sell it anymore?  I thought the FDA was on them.

If you end up with a cough you might want to reschedule the imaging.  I kinow you have been waiting a long time and this would be a big disappointment.  But what good would it do to have lousy images now when you could have good ones by waiting just a week or so longer?

#2 - Zicam does have a recall on three of its products.  According to the FDA site, they are -

Zicam Cold Remedy Nasal Gel (15mL, NDC 62750-003-10)
Zicam Cold Remedy Swabs (20 swabs, NDC 67250-003-20)
Zicam Cold Remedy Swabs, Kids Size (20 swabs, NDC 67250-003-21)

Zicam is still on the market in other forms.

For me flushing my sinuses with warm saline several times a day, and gargling with salt water does the best. I get the plain saline nasal spray. I put it in a hot glass of water to warm it up than spray my sinuses. All my Drs. have said that is really the best for killing infection and shrinking swelling.

As a veteran mother of a child with 4 sinus surgeries. Saline rinses several times a day is a GREAT help ,in alleviating sinus symptoms and the resultant cough , etc.

You can make your own saline saline (fresh daily) with one teaspoon salt to one quart of water. Flush liberally several times a day.
