Ultra-high Field MRI Allows Early Diagnosis

All you Limbo-landers...Here's an article that I found to be very interesting. Please take a moment to look it over. I don't know how many of these new machines are available, but it might be worthwhile to seek on out for your next MRI appointment!

I went to the site and bookmarked it for further viewing.  I really did find this a great source of information.  Thank you for sharing this.  This is really going to be helpful now and in the future.

Thanks again,
Heather

Very interesting!! This is within driving distance of me. I wonder how I would go about getting an MRi done there.

To anyone who hasn't c&p'd the link.  They are talking about the 7T MRI.  It is still in research use and I do not believe it is commonly available yet.  But, given the improvement of the 3T over the 1 or 1.5T I can't wait!   This article is about doing the 7T imaging on cadaver brains.

The "T" stand for Tesla which is the unit of measurement of a magnet's strength.

Please notice "mom" that I said I think this will be helpful information in the future as well as studying it for further review now.  Or something like that.

Yes "mom," I hear ya.  7T in the FUTURE....Got it.  Gosh Quix, how do ya tell another woman, "hey girlfriend, you are one heck of a good friend and I love ya?"  (Without it sounding like I am into women?)

I think they used my brain already in their cadaver study...at least I feel like I am brain dead most of the time.  Sorry for the pun, I do not mean to minimize death....Am trying to get a laugh out of our Den Mother.  I was trying to compliment her for always keeping us "Juniors" straight.

Thanks Mom,
Heather

Hi Quix, just a quick one, when you mention about either the 1 or 1.5 or 3T and now the 7T in maybe the future i was just wondering how the technology of these machines would stand over here in england, i mean when i go for or if hopefully soon an mri how would i know how up to date and what model of mri i was receiving as i know that this could possibly make all the difference just wondering as no doubt we are far behind you guys over there in technology just thought i would ask probably another silly question no doubt thanks bye hugs and c yas David.

Not a silly question David.

I am trying to work out what mine was done on.  I actually suspect it was a 1.5 or 1 (maybe).  Because I heard something about another facility here that was boasting about having the only 3T MRI in the country.  But my film says nothing.... just "Magnetom Vision Plus".

Oh just checked online.  Seems it was a 1.5T.  How likely that things would show clearly on a 1.5T vs a stronger one?  Maybe I should try to get my next MRI done at the 3T facility...

Maybe they can tell you at the facility..... if you give them a call...

Hi David,
You sound like a really sweet man! :)  Yeah, I miss Australia but only get to go there once a year or so....

Thanks  for your compliments on my bike..... that was about my fittest in the middle of last year...... but then I got a kick in the butt and landed in Limbo Land, and had  my usual level of physical activities disrupted.  The last half of last year was not so great, but my new years resolution is to get back on track with everything.

I love biking!  It is so relaxing. I also love running and swimming, and generally being physically active - though I am not "athlete" material.  I also love triathlon, though now I am with a group of friends who also organise races, so I get to participate as a racer less often than I would have liked to.

Have a great evening Dave!

Sally
