Sandi,

Hi! I'm not sure about lesion location vs. vertigo or ON but if Quix or others have time maybe they can give you specifics.

I do know several people that suffer vertigo that don't have MS or any lesions so I thought that if you are suffering vertigo you may want to call the doctor and check in.

The 3 people in my life with vertigo now (and I mean bad)
#1 an issue with her ear throwing off the balance center
#2 a pinched nerve in his neck
#3 some problem (not sure what) with her eyes

I have had ON myself 3 times this year ( never before that) and have not been told of any new lesions in my brain. That doesn't mean they I don't have any but I am curious if there is a certain area for ON.

Take care & good luck
Erin :)

Vertigo caused by MS occurs when there is damage to the area of the brain stem where the acoustic cranial nerve is located. This nerve is involved with hearing and balance. If multiple sclerosis patients have lesions on the brain located in the cerebellum, this can also cause vertigo.

Take care,

Bob :)

Hi Bob,
That's interesting because, first of all I am not dxed yet.  I am in the early stages of trying to be.  But  I have been having alot of problems with my nerve pain when I hear certain noises, sharp or loud noises, actually hurt.  I actually get nerve pain or currents that rip through my head and body when I am exposed to these types of noises. I had asked my ENT doctor about it and he said that it sounds like Hyeracusis, something about possible damage to an auditory nerve or something like that.  I asked him about the ma being involved or the cause and he said it is absolutely possible that there is a connection.
I have very bad vertigo, and I also have the ringing, and also like a whooshing noise in my ears.  Thanks alot guys appreciate the input.   See it's really true on this forum you do, learn something new everyday!   Thanks  Bye  Sandie
