Vision

A question from Penn's husband.  For the past week, vision has been gradually gotten fuzzy (technical term) like looking through a window with clear contact paper or water on it. Any one else out there with similar experience? Penn is also very dizzy but has not had an episode of vertigo in a long time.

Help!

I echo the others' thoughts.  This could very well be optic neuritis and the doctors need to know about it.  This might well be the "smoking gun" to help her get a diagnosis.  She needs to get in to see the doc asap this week and all the neuros involved in her case need to be notified of the new symptom.

Other symptoms we hear with ON can be

pain in or behind the eyballs
Pain with moving the eyes
Areas of vision dropout (ares of loss of vision)
Problems with color vision, especially color saturation or intensity
halos of light or color around things
light flashes with eye moement or blinking

This is important.  So is the sense of dizziness or unbalance.  Her docs need to here about this also.

Neither of these fits with a diagnosis of movement disorder, though I have to note that movement disorders, RLS, dyskinesias, myoclonus,  are more common in MS than in the general population.

Get her seen right away this week.  Tell her, Momma Quix says so!  Hmmm...you look pretty good in orange.

Well hello there DH, nice to meet you.

I'm just reinforcing what Zilla says, I think a call to the Dr. is in order and a visit right away.  Vision and dizzy, not something to mess with without even mentioning all the ways she could get hurt.

Getting around must be hard for her, and please tell her we wish her better days.

Will you keep us posted?

Thanks for reaching out to us this way,
Shell

Hi Penn's Hubby!
Is this happening to you or Penn? I hope that it will clear of for either of you.

This occurred when I had Optic Neuritis, and I also had severe eye pain and flashing lights and eventually trouble seeing red colors.

However, with my allergies I often have those blurry eyes that you described.

I REALLY hope this lets up for you, and that some 'wiser' members will drop by and help answer your questions.

Have a wonderful evening.

Hi!  I just think of you as "DH," because that is how Penn refers to you.  (And I see you in an orange jumpsuit.....don't ask.)

How nice to hear from you.  And...not really.  I'm sorry if Penn is unable to write herself.

Yes, this 'fuzzy vision' is something we hear others talk about often.  Some have said it's as if a coat of Vaseline is on their eye(s).  I really think Penn must be at her wit's end.  Presumably, you must be, too!  You guys could probably use another weekend at Penn State!

Her doctor really needs to now about this new symptom.  Write down how she's describing it and report it to her doc.  Make notes of all her symptoms so the doc has a good idea of what's going on, gets the big picture.  But make sure she knows the vision change is new.

Please send Penn our love and well wishes, and keep us posted on what's going on.  She's one of our gems!  And lucky to have a caring DH like you!

Take care!
