Vitamin D Deficiency

Yay! I finally have one test that's not normal!

Vitamin D deficiency can evidently mimic MS. But, it also seems to be more of a problem with people who have MS. Some scientists think it can lead to the development of MS.

I hadn't heard about the dangers (except for rickets) of low vitamin D before. I thought I'd put this out here as something that might be worth looking into for anyone else in Limboland with perfectly unremarkable test results. ;-)

I just tested low for Vitamin D, but not terribly low. I live in Ohio, and here, too is a higher rate of MS. We don't get a whole lot of sun due to the terrain.

Hi Trace,

Vit D deficiency can mimic MS symptoms and is also suspected by some as contributing to the disease itself.  The further you get from the equator (sunlight and its supply of Vit D) the greater the occurence rate of MS in the general population.  Canada and the UK have very high rates.

You should take a look at some of the other common mimics too.  We have them listed on our health pages - here is the link -
