Walking the Tandem Line

Hey~

Just an update-- I saw a sleep specialist for my worsening obstructive sleep apnea. He is a pediatric neurologist and adult/child sleep disorder specialist.

To make a long visit short, he gave me a fine neuro exam and reported to my internist and neurologist that my 'intention tremors' are quite severe. (They are getting much worse to the point I can hardly put on eye make-up). My reflexes are very brisk -- 4+ in four spots tested. And...I cannot tandem walk. He had to help me from falling over.

I know I have been getting worse. Weird to have it documented by a specialist.

Off to a busy, fun day with my Boyzies.

Take care and feel well, all!

Hi, and thanks for all the responses!

Yes, I think it is a good thing to have some new documentation, too. I guess the only thing new is the inability to tandem and the fresh set of eyes that observed it. I have always had the hyperreflexia, but it doesn't seem to help with a diagnosis.

I wonder just what causes there are for the inability to tandem walk. I have reservations about this knocking my neuro over the head. Although I feel like I would like to sometimes! Tee hee!  I'm supposed to see him in July, but I am not sure I have the fortitude to go. To be dismissed over and over is more than I think I can take.

Thanks again for the notes! I hope all are well and enjoying the summer sunshine! Keep cool!

Hey Zil, thanks for your update.  I keep wondering what it is really going to take to get your problems dx'd.  You've been at this way too long, but of course you already know that.

I'm glad you have this additional expert witness.

be well, Lu

I'm with Julie, now that you have the documentation, will it help with a dx or treatment plan?

Glad as well that you have validation for your symptoms you have been reporting.

Let us know how things go.

Wow, 4+ reflexes are very significant.  Where do you go from here?

Keep adding that evidence. It's great that you have it documented. That's what I keep doing. I'm not sure if it will get me anywhere or not, but you can't agrue with the picture that it's painting when you keep adding evidence to the pile, if you know what I mean.

Addi is right---it's a good thing to have these things documented, it makes diagnosis and treatment easier.  I too hope that they will be able to help you!

As far as walking, you're in good company here.  Sometimes I look like I am drunk, even with the walker.

Have a great day!

High Five!

I don't think it is *weird* to have it documented...it is validation!  ;0)  And, it is a good thing to have.

I am sorry you are having those problems, but at least they are taken seriously.  I do hope the sleep specialist can help you out, too.

I can't do the tandem walk either.  I have often wondered if we could get a sticker or something on our handicap placard that says Sober Drunk..not DUI.
