Am I brilliant or what!!!??  The short story you have been searching for is by Ray Bradbury.  It's called "A Sound of Thunder," and I think it was published in 1952.  Dah-DAHHHH!  Q

I just read a quick synopsis of the story, and although time has changed it a bit in my memory, that is the story!  My order from Amazon is already being processed.

There was another story my teacher had read to us that same year and I have been looking for it as well, so with the hunch it also was a Ray Bradbury short story, I found it!  This was written in a blog I found while searching…
