What is that?!

What is THAT?! I went in to the neurologist because I had numb and tingly hands and feet, and headaches ALL the time.  They did a MRI, and this bright white spot showed up.  I have another month before they see me again to read the results... anyone have any idea what causes these?  I have others too...

There's lots of structures in the brain which will show up white. This isn't a lesion - I don't know what it is, but that's something else.

Hi JM,
I'm sorry to hear about your headaches! I also had terrible headaches got a while but have been told they aren't a symptom of MS (i have recently been diagnosed). I wouldn't try to interpret your MRI on your own, i know i wouldn't have been able to make sense of mine without my neuro..

I know a month seems like a long time but it will pass. Maybe see if you can get on a cancellation list to potentially get in to see your doctor quicker. I'm hoping that all works out ok for you.

Hi JM -

I do have MS. I was diagnosed almost 4 years ago. And although I have lesions in my brain, c-spine and t-spine I couldn't point them out on my images :-) I leave that to the professionals :-)

Not all of us have ms here -- a number of us are In neurological limbo (no diagnosis yet).

The radiologist usually poses differential explanations for what they see under the Impressions or Conclusions section of the MRI report.  Even then, it is the neurologist who ultimately figures out what is going on.

Sorry I can't help you with your MRI, but wanted to say welcome to the board, and waiting for answers is frustrating, I know!

I didn't know I could get the report as well, I will call and ask for that monday.  What do your MRI's look like? I assume you have MS, being in this community...

It will take a neurologist to interpret your MRI. A lesion can be anything. The doctor determines from where it is, the shape and size, neurological exam, and your history what it is.The radiologist says what it could be but he does not diagnose.

Hi JM - Did you get a copy of the radiologist report when you got the images? If not I would get one. You are entiteld to it. We are not radiologists, but may be able to help interpret the report.
