What to do?

Today I went to my neurologist office to get copies of my reports of diagnosis. I need them to turn in to Veterans Administration, thats a whole other problem. But when I looked over the reports it said that when I was diagnosed I was given IV steroids, but that never happened, it wasnt even mentioned.
Do I ignore it and let it stay?
Have it taken off the records?
Push to actually receive the treatment?
How do I know I need it?

Thank you ess, I have another appointment with my neuro in March, I've already bugged him this month. However, you did answer my question so I wont be calling him up demanding something that isn't going to help me anyway :)

The point may be moot for the time being, because IV steroids aren't going to help far into an endless string of symptoms. If something new and relatively severe happens, they could go after that with steroids, but they're unlikely to treat long-standing issues.

You really need to confer with your neuro. There's no substitute for that. But be aware that it could be even a year before you really know what you're dealing withMS-wise.

Meanwhile hang out here and we'll do our best to help.

Thanks jen, that helps but, I don't know if im in a flare, or if this is just the way things are. Does that make any sense? I have a lot of symptoms, they came on fast, and they obviously arent going away on their own because they have been around a while now. Is that still considered a flare? Or should I be waiting for them to get worse? I know its a lot of questions, Sorry, Im full of them today.

IV steroids are great if you're having a flare, but they cause problems, and they won't really help you if you aren't experiencing actual inflammation.

HI,

Personally, I would ask to have the medical records amended. They need to be correct and accurate on all fronts. If the VA hospital doesn't show the IVSM either then the reports look legit and no one will question the neuro's records.

In my previous life as a paralegal, my job was to look for discrepancies and inaccurate information that might prove something to help us win a lawsuit. And, as Bob said , innocent mistakes are made all the time.  I have had my medical records amended more than once and now that I am filing for disability it is worth its weight in gold.

Take care,
Ren

I'd bring it to the attention of the Dr's Office.  I'm sure they would correct the record.  Some docs see so many patients that things flow together.  They are taught to chart each patient, but that rarely happens in practice.

I doubt that whether or not you had IVSM will matter to the VA.  They will be concerned with the diagnosis and the reasoning behind the diagnosis.  I get my check each month and that is about the extent of my interaction with the VA.

Also anyone experienced with MS and with VA would be valued for information and advice. Not only will I need them for medical care in the near future but the money would certainly help too.
