Yes! Very high. I just had mine taken a week ago. I have fibromyalgia. They think that is what is causing my severe pain. What did your Drvtell you about yours being high?

A sed rate of 9 is normal - very normal for anyone!

It means that this test, the ESR or Sed Rate or Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate is showing no signs of inflammation in the body.  You have psoted on an MS Forum.  Are you worried about MS?

I am a lab tech and run these test as part of the work I do in a hospital lab.  The normal range is 0-20 and any thing above that indicates inflammation going on.   It cannot tell where the inflammation is just that its there somewhere in the body.

people's sed rate can go as high as 100mm/hr depending on the extent of the inflamation. However a sed rate of 40 should worrent some investigation espesially when combined with other symptoms

Just googled; one site suggested that 15-40 was considered elevated, 41 and above is high.  I guess maybe elevated would be something to watch, and high would be something to be of more immediate concern.

Just thinking out loud, lol!

I'm a 46 year old female and my sed rate was recently 38; it was listed as high, but neither my PCP or my rheumatologist seemed concerned by it.

I don't know if that helps any.

Take care!

anything from 0-15. Indicates abnormal inflammation when above due to infection etc.
