Why bother? Is it our Health Care System?

I know that I am new to the community, but the more I read I wonder why bother?  There are so many people, including myself, in limbo land.  We require our doctors to at least 8 years of school not to mention residencies, internships, etc. and what kind of care do the majority of their patients get? I understand that MS requires a lot of rule outs, but come on how many neuros most people have to go to to get a correct diagnosis!!  Are we are going broke because of incompetence or indifference?

I can't really answer why doctors are so reluctant to dx MS.  I do know that you shouldn't get so discouraged that you give up and live with all your pain and symptoms.  As annoying as it is, you just keep plugging along until you find a doc who can help you.

My biggest concern about people who don't get a diagnosis of MS, is that they are never told what IS wrong.   If it is not MS, what is it?  Everyone deserves a doctor who will work for them and tell them what is wrong and what to do about it.  Hang in there.

I almost gave up going to the Neurologists but the Forum members told me to not give up and I am glad I didn't.

i exponential that!  every time i have symptoms and go to the medical organization i go to,  i ask myself the same thing. yet, i continue to fight anyway. my nature, for the fight that is right.

an insideous aspect with this "demyelinatinating cns", is i have had long periods of vacations from it.  the negative aspect of that is it is an opportunity for a doctor to say there is nothing wrong and not think twice about it and send you on your way or to a shrink. and thus the patient, me,  believed them. and why not, who really wants this  disease?

you keep fighting and putting up with the ridicule from the doctors, etc,  because you [know] there is a real problem needing solving.  and it isn't a phantom brain fart. you lose friends, you quit jobs, you lose sleep, you eat frustration, you lose yourself sometimes, but you keep fighting.

no one asked for this disease, and you do what you have to in order to survive. and in between, you laugh a lot at the bs tossed your way on this particular journey.

*Why bother?* you ask.  

Probably because at the root of human nature we want to know *why* for everything and we are unable to turn off our thinking brains and live solely through our instincts.  We think, we ponder, we question, we feel pain.  We deserve at least to know *why* and if the answer is because of this MyStery disease, we should know that too.

It's a long fight for so many here, but I don't think you will find any community member here that waited a long time for a dx, sorry that they pushed through for the answers.
