Wish me luck - glucose tolerance test in AM (m)..

I went to the lab at 7am today - the lab orders were not ready. I was ready, had fasted all night and AM.  Oh well.  So I go tomorrow morning.  I just know I am going to fail that da&& test - I ate one Lean Cuisine Pizza and 1/2 diet pepsi for lunch at 12:00 and at 1:00 I tested and I was 196.  WTH???  So, anyway, wish me luck that I pass the darn thing LOL !!!

The diet pepsi was okay for the sugar, but the pizza has tons of it. It is low on fat, that's why they can call it Lean cuisine. That darn sugar is in everything! Except meat, eggs, protein stuff. Good luck on your test, this will give a much more accurate of how your body handles sugar...I think the lemon lime is best if you get a choice....

Just a quick not on Pepsi.  It is sweetened with Aspartame.  I won't address all the claims about it's general toxcity, but with it's effect on blood sugar.  The body senses that aspartame (Equal, Nutrasweet) is sugar and in response to eating it releases inappropriate insulin.  The insulin went to work taking any extra calories and storing them as fat.  That would not have happened with water or a drink sweetened by Stevia or Splenda.  Because the aspartame triggers release of insulin, it causes a rebound hike in hunger and blood sugar.

Take home lesson:  There are tons of good data showing that in the last almost 30 years, aspartame has sabotaged every dieter and every diabetic.  It's bad stuff!  Then there is all the other stuff they say about it.
