Wondering if I have MS....

For starters I am 43 years old and as a teenager I was diagnosed with Chronic fatigue Syndrome and Mono. I have had a erray of symptoms for 30 years but have never been diagnosed by my health care professional nor the multiple Neurologist I have seen. My mom is starting to worry as am I.
Here is a list of what goes on:
1. I can't remember names or places or my past
2. I get lost going to familiar places
3. Severe migraines that recently have caused Alice IN Wonderland Syndrome
4. Pins and needles in my back, neck, arms, hands, legs, feet like it's been asleep and waking up.
5. Lethargy I can sleep 18 plus hours if not disturbed
6. Numbness on top of my head, tounge, under eye, nose and upper lip usually right side.
7. Phantom smells, feeling of forced oxygen, phantom taste
8. Blurred spots in vision usually right eye
9. Muscle weakness, dropping things
10. Nerve pain (fibromyalgia doagnosis)
11. Severe back pain.
12. Accidents: all that have resulted in injury to my left side...broken left elbow, broken pelvis, hyper extended knee, all have been seperate and years apart.
13. Unable to concentrate at work
14. Out of body type experiences, diagnosed as panic attacks talking out of my mind, dizzy, hot
15. Feel worse in the summer time
16. Slurred speech and unable to articulate words
17. Obsessed with numbers and not good at math. Lol
18. Sick, seems like I always have diarrhea, puking, can't eat, kidney stones
19. Can't stay focused, can't stay up on house work, can't stay organized
20. Always feel like I have a bug crawling on me somewhere...constantly swatting at something
21. Uncontrollable frequent urination all day and night
22. Restless legs when relaxed or in bed. Constant jerking in my sleep and rubbing legs
23. Itching at night when I relax or go to bed. I itch all over. I will scratch till I bleed.
24. Inability to sleep. Have to take sleep aid to get any and it is maybe 3 to 4 hours at most a night.
25. High pain tolerance if injured, but otherwise hurt all over. Can't stand to be touched. Pressure hurts.
26. Most recent is chest pain and what seems to be my heart fluttering, feels like butterflies in my chest with razor blades for wings.
Any help or others experiences is appreciated. I am in Texas so any good Doctors to recommend would be great!!

You really should consider looking into Lyme Disease. I have known many people who were diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Multiple Sclerosis, and turned out to have Lyme Disease. Lyme Disease is often misdiagnosed, or not even diagnosed at  all. The testing for it is also very inaccurate. This happens all the time to people, seriously. I had it happen to me as well.

you should definitely look into it. In fact, there is a Lyme Disease section right here on MEDHELP. they would be very helpful  to you there.

Lyme Disease can go dormant and come back out throughout peoples lives, that is why people can experience all different kinds of symptoms over the course of years and years. Definitely look into it!

If you have ever had Optic Neuritis it will show up from then on the picture they take of the back of your brain or on a MRI. I have never had ON so it never shows up on either. You can go to a neuro opthalmologist. They can't diagnose MS but they can steer you to a diagnosis. I did not have ON but I had double vision consistent to MS. I was sure I did not have MS and she told me I did and needed to go back to the neurologist. It took 6 neurologists 2 years to finally be diagnosed.I thought they would say I did not have MS.

I agree maybe migraine related. At the time (last year) of the AIWS I was not on any medication but had had a headache behind my right ear up to middle of my head for 42 days. I had to be hospitalized to relieve the pain and the AIWS symptoms. It is very scary to be driving home from work and feel like you are shrinking...I also had slurred speech at the time. The Neuro that saw me said it was a panic attack. I now take maxhalt for migraines and it seems to help but I have nothing to prevent them. Every doctor I see acts as though it's all in my head, except for the eye doctor who said I have Optic Neuritis and asked if I had any other symptoms that would be MS related. I also have a very concerned chiropractor. The rest of the docs seem to blow me off.
Thanks for your input. Much appreciated.

I would see a neurologist. Something is going on.I would not worry about MS at this point. It can take years for a diagnosis.

Hi GypsySoul and welcome,

I honestly don't think what you have mentioned is consistent with a neurological condition like MS, your symptoms are too wide spread, all over or whole body and RRMS doesn't cause relapsing episodes every few days.

You mentioned you have severe migraines and just recently started experiencing 'Alice in wonderland syndrome' but AIWS whilst rare, is still typically a childhood condition, average diagnostic age being around 8-10 with most outgrowing it before their 20's......so with you being in your mid forties and only now experiencing these similar types of visual hallucinations, along with the phantom bugs, phantom smells, phantom taste, itching all over, cognitive issues, restlessness, pain touch sensitivities etc it could be more to do with medication side effects or things like epilepsy or even related to your migraines...

Whilst i doubt it's going to turn out to be anything like MS, you should still see a neurologist about these phantom symptoms and the possibility of there being a more effective treatment plan to help with your severe migraines.

Hope that helps.........JJ

I need to mention I also have an electric Jolt feeling that goes through my whole body. It literally makes me jerk!
And if this is MS it is relapsing remitting I guess as I only have episodes every few days or may go a month with nothing. But they are getting more frequent. GYPSYSOUL73
