MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS COMMUNITY
Yep...it was a waste of time as usual...

Yep...it was a waste of time as usual...

Well...as I suspected my trip to the gp was pretty much a waste of time.  I have some sort of rash on my shins and she glanced at it and diagnosed it as dermatitis but it is not itchy or anything so I don't know if that is true or not...she gave me a cortisone cream and I will try it I guess.

I told her about the numbness and tingling increasing and she said she didn't know what the cause would be...she obviously doesn't much care either.

I told her about the fatigue I have been suffering with and since I had blood tests a month or so ago via her counterpart and they all apparently came back normal, she said she doesn't know what is causing the fatigue.  She said that I should start taking my anti-depressants at bedtime instead of the morning because they might be causing the fatigue but other than that she said she doesn't know what the cause is.  So, I tried changing when I take the Citalopram (I also had to list the meds I am currently taking and what the dosages are...I thought that since she prescribed them all she would have a record of them in my file) and took it at bedtime last night.  The result was that I slept until 11:50 a.m. THIS MORNING!!!  So much for her brilliant idea...grrr...I am sick to death of that woman!!!

So I took Kayleigh to the vet for a blood test and see if her liver and kidneys are tolerating her antidepressants...she got better care from the vet than I did from the human doctor!  It's a dog's life after all isn't it?? hehe

Rena,
You just aren't catching a break with the medical care, are you?  Dermatitis doesn't have to be itchy - it is just a generic name for conditions of the skin.

Keep tweeking the time of your medication until you find a schedule that fits your day.  I would love to sleep until 11:50 - 6:30 am or so is about the best I can do.

be alert,
Lulu

Rena,

Hang in there hon.

Your GP sounds pretty useless.

There may be something to taking the antidepressants at night though.  Maybe try taking them early evening instead of before going to bed.

Don't give up.

Knowing your history as well as I do, I wouldn't totally blame the anti-depressants on your fatigue.  If at all.  I take my anti-depressant in the early evening.  I am on a low dose so I am not sure whether I can say, that is affects me at all.  It does keep the up and down emotions in check.

The rashs on your shins, are a mystery to me.  I hope that the cream brings you some relief.  Are you wearing a different brand of socks or have changed laundry detergent lately?  Maybe even using a perfume body spray that you haven't used before?  It almost sounds like contact dermatitis.  If that's what it is the cream should help.

One day you are going to get your break with a good doctor.  One that listens and takes you seriously.  I don't see much hope with your current doctor.  She seems a bit flakie.

I hope you start feeling better soon.  As you already know with MS, an increase in fatigue may be the only symptom of a mild relapse.

Lots of Hugs and Love,
Heather

Well it was nice to catch up on some sleep that I really didn't think I needed but holy ****...My day was over when I got out of bed!!  I hate that!  I started the cream on my legs today...hope it works!

Sally...I have adjusted when I take my antidepressant's but I woke up this morning exhausted again and that was after 9 hours of solid sleep!  Maybe I am fishing in my sleep too much??? he he  Glad to see that you and Michaela are doing well...she is adorable honey...you must be soooo proud!

Heather...Well, I haven't changed anything like socks or laundry detergent...as a matter of fact now that the snow is gone I am only going bare foot in my Crocs cause they are soooo comfy with the nerve pain in my heels.  I hope that the cream helps but I am sooo tired of having such a "flake" for a doctor!  Hopefully I will find a new one soon!  I just don't know what the fatigue is all about but it is sure frustrating!

Wobbly...good to hear from you honey and I hope you are right in that I might find someone to help eventually!  Sorry to hear you still don't have a diagnosis but keep up the fight...giving up only means giving up on ourselves.  Hopefully we will hear that you get a diagnosis soon!

Lots of Hugs,
Rena

I'll say it was a waste of time.

Why on this earth this woman (and the others for that matter) will not just say it's the MS is beyond me.

Good luck with the rash, Sweety.  Keep a watchful eye it doesn't spread.

Hugs,
shell

Well, she's as useless after your vacation as before it.  No surprise here, eh?

Did the rash appear after the trip?  Were you wearing boots all day to fish in?  Use the cortizone.  It works on almost all dermatitis (inflammation of the skin).  Also keep the skin moisturized with a hypoallergenic cream.

Sratching any rash injures the skin and can cause a rash.  It's the itch that rashes.

Sheesh girl, your GP sounds like so many that I've seen. What a crock that is. You are diagnosed so what's the problem in saying that it's causing more trouble. Maybe you should see the vet.lol You'd probably get further along.

I hope the rash gets better soon and the fatigue eases up for you.

Hugs
