MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS COMMUNITY
Yet another question.

Yet another question.

I've been searching to no avail.  What percentage of patients with lesions found on MRI's end up being diagnosed with MS?

Hi, I can't answer this question the way you asked it, but I am going - soon - to write up a description of Clinically Isolated Syndrome.  What to do when there haven't been enough  attacks, enough abnormalities on exam or enough lesions on MRI.  It deals with the probability that people with certain findings will or will not go on to develop full-blown MS.  It's the next teaching thread I want to do.  So I will get to this.  Q

I actually found several studies after I made this post.  According to my newest reading, anywhere from 75% to 90% of patients presenting with symptoms and having lesions on MRI will have a clinical diagnosis of MS within 5 years.

It is interesting to see your plans for your next article.  I've been rather confused by "abnormalities on exam" verses MRI findings verses symptoms verses signs . . . etc.  Your next thread sounds like "just what the doctor ordered".

Thank you again for using your gifts to ease the way for so many of us.
