Yet another vision question

I'm not even sure how to describe my newest vision issue, but here goes . . .

When I turn off the lights for bed, instead of things seeming very dark (as they should) - it is as if a full moon is shining in the window.  Whether my eyes are opened or closed, the perimeter of my vision is lighter than the center.  I'm not able to see anything, so technically my eyes are still not adjusted to the darkened room.  After a while, my vision adjusts to the darkness and I quit noticing the lightness.  Nothing is flashing or moving.  I'm not even sure how long this has been happening, since I probably thought it really was the moon shining in.

Have you seen an opthamologist recently?  Since your eyes eventually adjust to total darkness and the light disappears I would guess its some type of imbedded memory that your eyes think there should be light and then realizes its not there.  How about that for a really convulted answer?  Anything abnormal with the eyes I would check out with the doctor even though I love the moonlight.... I agree with Lulu, you need to have a good eye exam.  

I sometimes see bright lights when I close my eyes, but it is usually when I'm having all the other eye problems. Pain on movement, twitching, etc.  I need to take my own advice and have a good eye exam also.
