Your Thoughts

Hi Everyone Hope You Are All Keeping Well In Yourselve's.
I Have A Question What Do You Think Of This Image From My Recent MRI, What Sort Of Lesion Do You Think This Is.
I Am Diagnosed With PPMS But This Lesion Seems Totally Different From The Others That I See On The MRI CD That I Have.
In The Meantime Take Care Everyone.
Regards Joe.

Thanks Gang For Your Prompt Replys, Laura I Was Diagnosed In May Of This Year And I Am 50 Years Of Age Although At Times I Feel Like 80.
Apparantly The Diagnosis Of PPMS Is Greater The Older You Get.
Take Care Everyone.
Regards Joe.

As wonko said, you can drive yourself absolutely nuts.

However, even in my ignorance, I can safely say that it is a black hole surrounded by a new lesion.  The black spot used to be a lesion, but now the tissue has disappeared, leaving a hole.  The surrounding tissue is enhancing, meaning that it's new disease activity.

Eventually your brain will fill in the hole, and the total brain volume will decrease.

Sorry, dude!  I know this isn't great news.

IMHO, you can drive yourself nuts trying to interpret these things.  Get the report, and get your doctor to explain it to you.

I've read (and am sure you know much better) that PPMS does show up differently on MRI, hopefully your radiologist and neuro are up to speed and can help figure out what your latest scan shows.

Do you have a lot of new symptoms that are worrying you about the MRI, or are you just curious?

Either way, best of luck and don't put it upon yourself to figure it all out--that's why we pay the pro's the big bucks.

I did a google on brain lesions and found a really good page with lots of pictures showing different lesions - maybe you can spot a similar one here. - Laura

I just looked at your bio - would you mind telling us when you were diagnosed - like what age?  My age of 53 is a red flag right now.

Thanks,
Laura

I haven't a clue what those might be, despite staring at the illustrated chart of lesions in my neuro's office yesterday for some time.  I have all kinds in mine.  I am impressed that you can share your mri shot - so far all I can do with my cd is make my brain spin and dance in circls like a ballerina! LOL

Good luck with the doctor and please let us know what is said.

Be well,
Laura

PS  I could also be wobbly2, but that would be confusing!

Hi Wobbly, The One That Is On The Right Side As We Look At It Is Slightly Larger Than The Other One's, But I Am At A Loss As It Seems To Have A Black Hole In The Centre Of It. I See The Dr Next Month.
