another reflex question

Ok, I was sitting on the couch with my 4 yr. old and she kicked her little feet onto the lower part of the outside of my leg, and my leg felt very jumpy and made my ankle feel sorta jumpy too. I dont know how to explain the sensation. It actually feels as hyper as my knee reflexes are except they dont shoot straight out.
I get the feeling on the top part of my  legs too. So I am assuming it has to do with the reflex abnormalties that are seen.
As most of you know already because i asked about it so much, that I do have hyperreflexia, I was also wondering what the ankle response shoud be.
Thank you so much for always listening to me.
Pamela

I feel that sensation go up my leg when my lower part near my ankle is hit. I am walking fine, but I have these odd feelings that I just can't seem to shake off.

Thanks Pam

From my understanding a normal response would be a single bounce, or maybe 2, this is what my right ankle does, my left keeps on bouncing and all the muscles up my leg respond in consecutive spasms. My left leg also kicks out, fast and hard but the right doesn't.

I have had a few oddities (in a long line of oddities) that i believe are due to abnormal reflex, sometimes i will feel a sting on my shin (left leg again) and that leg will for reasons of its own, kick out in a wonky repeditive jerk.

Cheers........JJ

Thanks Lulu, My husband always does that, he reaches over to tap my leg and it shoots up. I never had pain, just a feeling of jumpiness up my leg like my muscles want to keep bouncing.

I dont remember the doc. ever saying anything about my ankle reflex's, he only has mentioned the knees.

Hugs, Pamela

Pamela,
I'm not sure I can answer this question, but I can share what my similar experience was.  At this time I was pre-dx and now know I was in an active disease phase.  And yes, I have extreme hyperreflexia.

My husband has the habit when we are in the car of reaching over and patting my thigh, just above the knee.  When he would do this it was painful and caused my leg to jerk and sharp pains down to my ankle.  He thought I was exagerating the problem until I was dx'd and the doctor acknowledged that was a legit problem.

Your response sounds very similar......  Lulu
