Hi guys thanks for your input i really appreciate it.
I am on 1800mgs of Gabapentin 900mgs morning and 900mgs at night this med was given for sensory symptoms in my legs.
I now also have to take Amytriptyline 20mgs at night this was prescribed for neuralgia in the right side of my face and head.
I have to make an appointment to see the neuro again due to the increase in symptoms so i hope he will look into my case more thourghly he is taking the lets wait for more evidence of disease attitude.
My GP was shocked by this he is of the opinion WAIT FOR WHAT (lol) he wanted me to see someone else, but i am so put off by all this so maybe i should go see the one i was at the last time and give him another shot at it.
I an fortunate to have private health care through my husbands employer thats helps emmensly as i dont have the hassle of waiting months for an appointment on the NHS.
Thanks again guys and i will give an update on this if i can get an answer lol.

Take care and be well
(((( HUGS)))

Hi Julie,

I was diagnosed with MS in February, sensory only and I am on Gabapentin (and Baclofen) too. I take 3 x 300 a day but I am having to up it at the moment due to pain in my arm that sounds similar to the pain in your ankle.

Can you up your Gabapentin? How much are you on? My GP says I can up mine at any time (within reason), you are able to upto 3600mg of Gabapentin a day. If your GP is happy for you to increase your dosage (and you're not already at the limit) it may be worthwhile trying an extra tablet a day to see if it works.

Ps welcome to the forum

Just a note Julie...you may have to go on an anti-depressant with the Gabapentin or change from Gabapentin to something like Lyrica or Tegretol to help with the pain.  Some people may say that this is a parasthesia as well but it sounds awfully close to what I experience.  Hope this helps honey!

Lots of Hugs,
Rena

Hi Rena
Thanks for replying to my question. I have not been dx, im in the lets wait and see group. I have a lot of sensory problems in my legs for 2years nearly without any let up its only getting worse.
This thing thats going on only started yesterday and the gabapentin is doing nothing for it if it persists i will go to my gp for further advice.

Hi there...I don't think we have spoken before but my name is Rena and I was diagnosed with MS in 1993.
It sounds to me like you are having nerve pain which is very painful and confusing when you first start having it.  I started mine in the heels of my feet and it felt like hot needles in my heels and I had to start wearing "Crocs" shoes to walk anywhere.  This has ceased up until lately when I have been getting it in my big toes!  IT JUST HURTS!!

You may have to see either your primary doctor or your neuro to get some meds to help with this pain.  You may have to try a few different types to find what works for you but it is worth it.

I hope I have been a little help to you, if you still have questions, please don't hesitate to ask!

Lots of Hugs,
Rena
