babinski and hoffmann sign

Can anyone answer this please. I went to neurologist as I have tingling in legs, shaking in hands, loss of balance mildly, one pupil bigger than the other, now only in dimmed light, stiff neck. I have had retrabulbar neuritis 14 years ago. Neuro said I have Hoffman a sign in both hands and up ward babinski sign in both feet. I don't think I have any signs of that in my feet, what would they be? What would the signs be on my hands, as mine shake? Neuro says it is probably MS. Does it sound like it? I am waiting for a MRI of the brain and visual evoked potential tests. Please help, I feel quite afraid.

Thanks. Does babinski cause problems in your feet? And does Hoffmann cause problems in your hands. I have had optic neuritis before, but the pupil that is bigger is in my good eye!

Babinksi in normal people means when he stroked the side of your foot with something like a pen, your foot did not turn down as if to grab it, it probably "flayed" outward and upward.  Both of my feet do that, turn out and up.

No need to be afraid yet.  MS doesn't move rapidly usually at onset.  The MRI will tell your neuro a lot.  He probably is also running blood tests?? to rule out the other mimic diseases that cause symptoms similar to MS.

The one pupil bigger than the other, does need to be checked out by a good eye doctor and not the walk in kind at the discount stores. Someplace that does the EVPT and am sure he recommended or referred you to someplace.   This might, note I said might, indicate some optic nerve problems which might be backed up by your MRI.

Hang in there, it doesn't take too long for them to read an MRI, but not sure how long before you will get to see your doctor.  Welcome to our little corner, we are just patients helping patients, but you are most welcome.
