does this sound like ON?

hello, I have been having mild tension/sinus like headache and there seems to be very mild pain around my eyes.  My eye sight is fine, Im having hard time figuring out when there is pain if its my eyes or sinus. Its been about 4 days.  It comes and goes. I have been extremely nervous and anxious. I would love any input you have.

I had another read of what you have posted prior about your symptoms, MRI, dx of hypertention, migraine explanation etc and admittedly i am wondering if you are still googling about MS and by doing so have been inadvertently feeding your fears......

You have only just recently adopted a little one and although you don't mention having any other children, you are still a parent and that automatically creates an obligation or higher level of responsibility to look after your self and that includes your mental health.

Take a brave step and focus your attention and thoughts for the moment, on getting the appropriate help for your anxiety and fears! IF you have the right type of support, treatment, understanding of your anxiety triggers etc you will be much better equipped to face the continual roller coaster ride of parenthood and any additional issues you'll be dealing with throughout your life.

Be brave, face your truths and change you tomorrows!

Hugs........JJ

Thank you all for your comments and responses.  I do have some tingling in both my fee and hands, which are prominent at night.  it comes and goes all day as well as my head tingles during the day.  My eye get tired and I can't tell if its my eye that are bothering me or my sinus. I don't have pain, just dull ache around the eye and my nose feels like sinus is coming on.  All my symptoms are mild.  Tingling thing started gradually in February and the Eye thing started a week ago.  I did have an MRI a year ago which showed small scattered hyper intensities.
I am extremely frightened and emotionally drained.  Its taking a toll on my family

I would recommend not being anxious, especially if you don't have any other sx, As JJ says, ON comes with vision deficits - these can be color deficits rather than / or with acuity deficits. With respect to pain, ON pain with eye movement can present as an aching pain and is not always an ice pick pain by any means. ON is usually monocular, involves vision deficits, and pain of any degree on eye movement. Incidentally, it is also possible to have subclinical ON, which presents without pain, or any other symptom. I have been dx'd with ON, and have asked a LOT of questions : ) Do you have any other neurological sx?

Another thing to look at/research would be trigeminal neuralgia as there is a branch of the trigeminal nerve very close to the eye.

Best wishes

Hi there,

The short answer is no, it doesn't sound like Optic Neuritis (ON) because what you are describing is "mild pain around my eyes" and it hasn't effected your sight at all.

Generally when someone is experiencing ON, it is more commonly described as intense ice pick pain with eye movement, which is usually directly in the middle of one of their eyes and it's also usually accompanied by unilateral visual deficits eg the total loss of vision out of that eye, splotched gray spot, double vision, etc.

Cheers........JJ
