Hi Quix,

I know it's been a while but my computer crashed and I had to wait to get a new one.

My EEG showed sharpness and signs of slowing.  Can you tell me what that means?  The nurse told me that it was abnormal but I would have to wait and talk to my doctor on Monday.

She put me on Prednisone until she determines which medication will best suit me.  She told me that she would be puting me on a medicine for MS.  There are a few to choose from and she wants to see how I react to the steroids before she dicides which one is best for me.

I am scared to death by getting a diagnosis of MS.  It feels like I've fought so hard for the last 3 years just to find out I will never get my life back.  It makes me so mad.  But who am I supposed to be mad at?  I want to be mad at God but I know that's wrong.

I would appreciate it if you could explain the EEG and also what the steroids have to do with which medication I go on.

Thank you so much and as always I do value your opinion very much.

Hi, Carol!

So are you saying you were diagnosed with an EEG?  Incredible.  Did they do any follow up testing?  I'm sure you had lots of symptoms of MS, which is why you went to the neuro in the first place, right?

Thanks for sharing!

I'm sorry for the misunderstanding.  No, I was not diagnosed by the EEG.  I have had several MRI's, spinal taps, blood test, cat scans, pretty much everything.  I was just wondering if any one knew what they meant by saying my EEG was abnormal because of the sharpening and slowing.

Thanks

My bad!

I'm blurry of mind lately.  Just ask my poor boys who had to help find my :  shoes, make-up bag and lunch before I left for work today!  All while I was in near hysterics!  I had them all just before going out the door!  I'm losing it!

I gotcha now.  I wonder if the sharpness and slowing have to do with what might show up on an evoked potentials test?  I don't know how to explain it properly, but if you look that up online, I'm sure it would have it in laymen's terms that would be understandable.  I know that 'slowing' is a term they use in evoked potentials.  But don't believe me today!  Can't remember if I took my migraine medication!

Nice talking with you.  Take care!

Trust me I know what your going througth.  I have the same problems all the time.  Sometimes we just have to sit back and laugh at ourselves,  it's either that or cry.
