I was curious, I had a MRI of my c-spine, and T-spine...They both came back ok, I have mild disc bulges in 4 different areas along with flattening in two others.  I had a follow up EMG which indicated that my muscles were good, but there is slowed signals going to and from my spine.  Could the MRI have missed a lesion in my spinal cord?

I have a history of white matter lesion in my brain, which was just assumed to be associated with my migraines.

I have also had diarrhea for almost every day of the last 4 months.  My leg gets spradic paralysis but it only lasts like 5 minutes.

I was told I had vertigo at 16, but don't think it was the correct dx.

Any thoughts on if this could be ms?

Hi Blueskies,

Welcome. What type of Dr. ordered the MRIs? Any, why? They should of been ordered looking for something, (i.e. not curiosity)....Dr. give you any thoughts?

No.  The Neurologist ordered them, but never said why.  I think he is looking for MS.

Welcome to our world.  I'd ask the neurologist what he's looking for.  Did you see him because of the disc bulges, or are there other symptoms that took you to him?

I used to get Migraines daily.  They subsided, but I continued seeing the Neuro.  He is the Director of Neurology, and should know what he is doing...

I called him about 18 months ago because my right leg goes "dead".  I will go to stand up and fall.  I have had this happen while holding my two year old so it is quite concerning.  I can move my leg, and there are no pins and needles.  It is like I am paralyzed, but still have feeling in the leg.  It goes away after 5 minutes or so.  This has happened like 6 times.  Also, when I was younger I was told I have Vertigo, but he thinks it was a miss diagnosis.  I am tired ALL THE TIME.  Like extremely fatigued.  Yet at night I have trouble falling asleep.

I am highly frustrated at this point.  He is an MS specialist, but he doesn't have any answers.

An EMG is usually ordered to look for problems in the (large fiber) peripheral nerves. The slowed signals are in the peripheral nerves going to and from the spine and therefore outside of the central nervous system (spinal cord and brain). So a positive EMG would not be a sign of a spinal lesion nor of MS (which is a disease of the central nervous system).

There are a lot of things that can cause peripheral neuropathy. You need to talk to your doctor about what these results mean. (I was dx'd with peripheral neuropathy for six years before I saw a doctor who figured out I really had MS).
