I do the exercises i always used to do luckily it dont get to me that bad so i just push through it  mainly toning excerises...you really dont have to do much and once u get your on routin then spread it out throughout the day..like when im cookin ill do a set of 20 of lunges and then when im layin in bed i do some cruches ..i do push up rght when i wake up ect ect   i like spreading it out.. works the best for me....also i heard a pool is the best i have one but never used it for exercise! just fun times instead!

I'm great at starting exercise plans - its the sticking with it that gets tedious.

Can I suggest that everyone find a heated (82-85 degree) pool and swim?  It is absolutely the best exercise therapy for MS patients.  Everyone can get in the water and move - even if you don't know how to swim.  Local MS chapters often offer special water classes for MS patients.

Also, there are exercise DVD's available on line that are adapted for special needs - look for Yoga for MS, TaiChi for MS, and other resources. They are all tailored to keep you from overheating, while giving you a good workout.

Believe it or not, one of the other best exercises for MS patients is horseback riding - if you can find a stable that offers lessons you might find that worthwhile.

good luck-

Good luck with finding something you like.

I need to start a excercise plan as well... just something to help my body firm up or loose a few pounds...quite a few too...but I always forget .. I have weights somewhere around here and I should take them out and put them near the TV.. that might help me remember..

I can't really walk without a walker or ??  and not for long.. I have been thinking of getting a "Manual Treadmill"... what do you think about that??  My hubby thinks it's NOT a good idea for me??  I have too much problems with my legs..but I want to strenghthen them...??

Does anyone use a manual treadmill..one that I can stop without turning off...
that way I won't fall?

I should contact the MS Society and find out more info as well.. maybe you should call yours and see if they have advise on this issue..??

let us know and we shoud have a Excercise part on the "Health Pages"  maybe we should start a Post on this subject.?

take care

I walk with a cooling vest. I started 15 minutes and worked up. I do yoga. Moves that are to hard I skip. I swim. I lift weights 2-3 pounds watching TV.

Welcome to our forum.

There are cooling hats, vests and neckwraps that are very useful during exercise, and a lot of MSers have them. Sometimes you can get them free from MS organizations. Others here can give you pointers on this, as I don't have these, yet.
