have a cold, legs aching

I have a miserable cold.  Head is stuffed up, throat very sore, though the worst is my aching legs, which is a bit weird, I suppose from not moving much.  Have been taking ibuprofen throughout the day but not helping much.  Any advice?

Colds make you feel so awful and then having a disease on top of it is even worse...  Have you tried any OTC cold medicines?  I use Theraflu in the gel caps and it works wonderful for the cold symptoms and the aches that come with it...

You also might massage lotion deep into your legs... Put Vicks on the bottom of your feet then put on a pair of socks... Not sure why but this really works in relieving those nasty cold symptoms... I hope your better soon...

I have this attachement I bought on line for a waterpick to clean my sinuses. I put salt and baking soda in the basin with warm water and blast my sinuses. It hurts at first but it also shrinks the sinuses and kills the junk in there. I gargle with salt water all day. I drink lots Pau D arco tea. It tastes awful but it helps my colds pass faster. I also use a vaporizer.

Not sure you want to try any of these things. I will say I am sincerely sorry you are sick. Being sick is miserable. Polly and Grady give you big doggy hugs.

Thanks to you both for responding.  I started on the cold and flu cough medicine today, which hasn't really helped my symptoms yet but did knock me out for a good nap.   I also started gargling with salt water, thanks Alex for the reminder, this is something I should do every day, not just when I get sick.  I have a plastic nasal cleaner thingy that shoots saline saline in one nostril, through the sinus cavity and out the other nostril; is that similar to your waterpik, Alex?

I'm actually not very stuffed up today, in fact I'm pretty sure what I have is strep throat.  Feels like it - very painful to swallow - and looks like it when I peer at the back of my throat. I have a whopping headache.  I managed to get an appt tomorrow with a new doc in town who happens to be female, the only female GP in town who is acccepting new patients.  Hopefully she is good and I can switch from the other new GP to her.  At the very least she can do a throat swab tomorrow and let me know if it is strep so I can get on some antibiotics fast.

Strep is miserable. I had it enough in my youth to just *know* when I get it. I had it a couple Christmas's ago. :(
