I do believe that your doctor may have not only use the Solumedrol for your sudden vertigo, BUT for your eye complaints as well.  When you have pain in one eye like that, with vision changes, it usually is Optic Neuritis, but of course, can be symptoms of something else wrong with the eye.

I would also report the pressure you felt in your eye to your doctor, if you have not already done so.  That can be a completely different thing entirely and pressure behind the eye is something to take seriously.

The fact that you describe blurred vision and only in one eye, signals to me that your treatment with Solumedrol should help clear things up.  Please let your doctor know about that pressure feeling.  Okay?

Thanks for the quick help.  Like I said, this whole MS thing confuses me.

Heather- the doc has me doing the solumedrol due to the vertigo, not the eye.  Back when I first saw him in November I mentioned the eye issue.  He did a blood test for Sjoren (sp?) but that came back negative.  I don't think he saw any issues in my eye at that time and that's why he did the blood test.  The issue has stayed with me ever since, and it's only in my left eye.  I felt pressure last night as my husband and I were watching a movie, along with the pain.  I don't know what else it could be besides ON, but I would be open to suggestions as it gets pretty annoying at times.  I don't really have any blurriness or double vision, although one night a few weeks ago I had a short span of 10 seconds where things got kind of blurry in that eye and I had to keep blinking to get it to go away.  It was kind of scary.  Angela

I am so glad that you have a doctor that recognizes that the pain you have in one eye could be Optic Neuritis.  This is an urgent symptom to treat with Solmedrol.  In my experience, the steroids got the ON calmed down quickly.

It definitely sounds like you are going through an exacerbation of symptoms.  So glad that your doctor is right on top of things.  You may find that the seroids will actually help with alot of symptoms that you are currently having.

Hi, Angela. I can't help with the overall picture but can make some comments that might interest you. The whooshing and ringing are signs of tinnitus, which can be a stand-alone thing. I don't know if it's part of MS, because it may be a peripheral problem. (Someone knowledgeable please step in!) Another similar issue is hyperacusis. I had that for 5 months but it finally abated. It started with hearing a noise that sounded like a crowd cheering in a far away-stadium, then most sounds got unbearably loud. Try Googling these to find our their cause and whether they can be MS-related. If they are, in conjunction with your other symptoms, you do seem to be having a flare.

I hope the steroid helps pronto.

Thanks for the concern...I'm not sure.  I'm new to this whole MS thing and I've been confused on what a real flair up even is.  Over the past couple of weeks I kept getting a whooshing sound in right ear and deafness/ringing in ear.  Then, the vertigo started Monday.  Over the past few days I keep getting new pain going off like electric shocks all over my body.  My feet burn and I've got new numbness that keeps coming and going in various parts.  Like I said, I'm new to this...what does all of this sound like?  Oh, yeah, I've also been having this feeling in my left eye since October like there is something in it.  This pain has gotten worse in the past couple of days.  My doctor has me starting on solumedrol for the first time on Tuesday.  Angela

Sweetheart,

I will do a search now and see if I can find it for you.  I think it's called the "History of a MS Flair-up," or something like that.  I will do a search now honey.  Hang on...

I'm glad that I can be of some help.  Do you think you are going through a flair-up of symptoms right now?  What can I do to help?

Will get back to you with that "article.," as soon as I find it.  One thing I might suggest to MedHelp is to put our lists in Chronological order, so they are easier to find.  That way we don't have to go back through tons of posts to find one that we wrote only a couple months ago.   Do you think that might be a good suggestion to MedHelp?

Hugs and Love,
Heather
