I have some MS symptoms that do not ever go away. My neuro explained it this way - when you have a relapse and it isn't treated, after a while the damage is permanent and the symptoms do not let up. He said that is why it is so important to treat an exacerbation. Do I have some better days where the symptoms seem to be not as bad? Sure, but it doesn't last long.

Well about a year ago it started by things looking differently...i described it as "out of sorts"...i could see fine it just didnt seem like reality. Then I got a couple spells of actual dizziness over a 2 week period. After that I just feel like I'm drunk all the time. I feel like i'm falling over even though I'm not. Its hard for me to go to shopping centers or anything like that because it makes me feel worse ( not to mention the bright light sensitivity) I get this strange feeling in my eyes that I really cant describe either, it's hard for me to look off at a distance. I'm an optician so I have seen the doctor numerous times and everything looks great with my eyes.I have had visual field testing, ENG, visual evoked potential, MRI of brain 2 times, CT scan of brain, MRI of back & neck (which showed a few protruding disks in back) but isnt bothering with my spinal cord signal and I'm pretty sure every blood test imaginable! I do about once every three months get this terrible burning pain down my neck into my arm and wrist for less than a day and then it completely goes away.(thought maybe pinched nerve) My fingers get tingly and fall asleep only in the middle of the night while im sleeping..as soon as i move them around it goes away but I have never had that before not sure if its related. Also I get alot of headaches and always have. EXTREME fatigue, which began probably 3 or 4 months before the rest of the symptoms. I almost think the doctors think I'm crazy because they cant figure me out when EVERYTHING comes back normal. I'm am very tired of this and all I want at this point is answers....its very hard to live like this. How did I go from a completely healthy and normal life to this overnight? It just doesnt make any sense :(  I hope we can get figured out soon....

I have had this 'off balanced' feeling for almost a year now, i know what your going through. I have had every test imaginable and everything is coming back normal. I have been seeing an MS specialist even though I havent been diagnosed with MS. The feeling never goes away (unless I'm sitting or laying down) It is difficult for me to work everyday & take care of my kids and take care of everyday things. Also my eyes are very light sensitive, I sometimes wear sun glasses indoors. So I am very curious to hear more about you and your symptoms because I too am looking for answers. Just wanted to let you know that I know what your going through.

it sounds like you are noodling this out on your own - this is what I think you are saying ....

diabetes=numbness and tingling

vision problems = balance issues

viral infections = tingling that can last up to a year.

anxiety = borrowing trouble.

Here's to getting answers from the neurologist!

Travis: I am so sorry to hear that you are feeling so bad. I am new to MS and unfortunately have no idea whether what your going through is the MS, the diabetes, or something else altogether, but I wanted to let you know that I'm wishing you well. I'm glad you're getting into a doctor soon.

Best wishes,
J

well the balance is really not bad its my eues that make me dizzy,i am a type 2 diabetic who didnt bother to take care of it for 10 years so the numbness can be attributed to that,numbness started 2 years ago after i got the hives

yes constant do you think maybe some form of ataxia the doctors have diagnosed with with verstibular neuritis but the vision problems came 4 monbths before the VN,im just not sure whats going on,maybe something serious or life threatening or my anxiety level has just been driven up by having this balance disorder my mind is freakin my body out,im thinking lyme disease

Hi travis,  we are not doctors here and can't diagnose anyone but can just share our experiences.  By constant, are you saying 24/7 that these sensations never go away?  If so, that doesn't quite fit the MS symptom pattern I know.

There are so many things that fit these symptoms - unfortunately if you google any of these symptoms you list, MS always comes up as a possibility. I am glad you don't have to wait long for the neurologist appointment and can begin testing for answers.  Be sure to feel like you can come back here at any time to ask questions about this process.

be well,
Lulu
