The will take as much out as they need to test for. Just like when they draw blood - they will take a whole bunch of tubes if the script you are looking at has a list etc.
For the lab - the more the better where CSF is concerned. If for some reason they have a problem with one samples they will have options.
Did you see what the Dr ordered on the script? Was probably a long laundry list.
I'm glad to hear they kept you in the hospital. Doesn't mean the other 2 were wrong, but wasn't their protocol to keep you. It sounds normal too that it took hours. That fluid comes out very, very slowly, as I'm sure you experienced 1st hand.
I had about 7 or 8 drawn.
yeah i would say it has taken a long while to recover from this lp. i will never do it again!!!!!!! im going to try to go back to work tomarrow. only for a few hours. but hey its a start. wish me luck on monday., i go to my doc to talk about all this stuff.
Hi,
10 vials sound like a lot - my neuro took four when he did my LP. That sounds like an extreme amount of spinal fluid to remove. It probably took a toll on your body to replenish that CSF.
Yes, I would ask the doctor when you see her what they did with all that CSF. .Perhaps they were storing extra for future testing or in case they screw up the first batch of tests?
The actual tap should not have taken so long either. I have to wonder what were they doing?
