I think I'm sharp as a tack, but my wife says "nope, you're out to lunch". LOL
Like most people here, I make a nice list of sx's, bring them to the dr's, then forget to mention them to the dr. Seems perfectly normal to me.
My biggest cog issue is calling things the wrong name. I usually realise it right away (not always tho) but I can't think of the real name. Frustrating!
I think I had an important point to make here, but I don't know what it was.....oh well
Mike
what is the more popular meds for us MS'ers for the cog issues on this forum?
*alzheimers, particularly of vascular origin?
Thats right, I have heard of the meds for alzheimers used for cog issues on here but not those specific meds..
meg
oops, i see i misspelled that or something.
yes, cog as in cognitive,
Galantamine (Nivalin, Razadyne, Razadyne ER, Reminyl) is used for the treatment of mild to moderate Alzheimer’s disease and various other memory impairments, particularly those of vascular origin.
i sure don't see this med listed by many on this forum for cog symptoms, do you?
Last time I took a list of thing I wanted to talk about, he rushed me thru so fast i could not even use them so I asked if I could leave them with him and he didnt even want them..go figure !~
@Ufrusterated2...what is goc? cog possibly ? and what was the med you got for it?
meg
Meg,
I'm amoung your fellow dead brains. I liked JJ solution. The last time I went to my PCP I hander her a full page of my notes about why I was seeing her. She accussed me of being OCD. There were a couple of Items I had forgotten to put on my lisdt and of course forgot to bring them up.
Dennis
Hi Meg,
count me in on that too, "Does anyone relate to this?."
that is why the neuro put me on a goc medicine to help with that. i'm beginning not to like the med though.
spell checker, Lu? we need one, that is for sure.
I have thought about it, just afraid we have noone up here, what kind of PT ? Its always so hard to find good help up here. But i could go on a hunt again.
If some tells me to 'write it down' again i may hit them..lol
meg
Wow, I really wish there was a spell checker on this forum! LOL
Meg,
There was a handout that my PT person I see for cognitive issues just this past week - it said over 50% of MS patients show cognitive decline. It was a reprint from one of the NMSS magazine articles. It helped to remind me that we are not alone in this concern.
The cog training she is doing with me seems basic, but I know it will all be useful, if I can rmember to use the tricks she has taught me! LOL
You might wan to ask the doc for a referral.
be well, Lulu
yes...me too. really, I am glad i am not alone in this....was beginning to scare myself.
Hey Meg,
I so so get the brain dead feeling, sometimes i think i'm doing pretty good, and then something will remind me that my brain has become a sieve.lol
Last night, i was thinking i better start doing something different cause the reminder notes i'm writing my self are now getting forgotten, thought i might need to start writing a note to remind me to look for a note. I suppose i could try bread crumbs lol!
I think it might be a good idea to try using an audio recorder, that way when you play it to your Dr the words are yours, it will also highlight your cognitive issues. Its one thing to say i'm forgetting things and quite another to need a recording of what you are there to see the Dr about because you cant remember.
Are you getting any help with your cognitive problems?
Cheers....JJ
Yes! I can relate Meg.
Kinda like "Out of site out of Mind" because we have so many other sx, and issues, trying to rmember to take meds, and then wonder if you did in fact take them.
I think, for me anyhow, this comes from lack of cognition and a Brain Overload of what little bit I do have. Hope that makes sense.
The funny thing to me is when you do remember to write the stuff down...the list is soooo big that you stop and think to yourself ...."This doc is going to think I am a Hypochondriac for sure"! So sometimes I don't even take the list or if I do Remember it, I just mention a couple of things :)
Take Care,
~Tonya
