jerking limbs

Hi,

My legs having started jerking out from the hip, iv had serve spasms before that ended in the limb jerking out in my early days thats why i went on lyrica and quinnine and diazapam that all died down i had spasms and nerve pain but the jerking only ever happened at the end of a spasm. This is increasing everyday i also get a body jerk from my stomach its hard to explain but if sitting it pulls me forward or if im lying it pulls me into a fetal postion has anybody else had this?  it only happens on rest and sitting.

My hips are so painfull and feel like they are being pulled out of there joints, its agnony to walk or sleep, im not on magnisum tablets as iv run out or on diazapam for over a month now and been on temazapm which has been better for my mood but does not help me sleep.

Iv also started to get the more gental jerks in my arm and my fingers they do it when on the computer they touch the wrong keys when typing.

with my legs they feel shaky but are not they also jerk if anyone comes near them, which is odd, i find it really hard to explain and i want my neuro to realise what im talking about when i next go see him. Im having another MRI this friday of the pelvis/lumber region, and am still awaiting my LP results and EMG.

Any comments would be great.

Samantha

I've had the jerks you describe.  That was my first "problem" 9 years ago.  My body would jerk forward all day long (at its worst) and I ended up going to Mayo Clinic and found out it was Spinal Myoclonus.  I don't have the truncal jerking as much anymore, but it will occasionally happen if I'm very tired or stressed.  My jerking was severe in the beginning and caused me to fall a couple times, but has always happened mostly when I'm sitting or laying down.  It happened the most if I layed down on my left side.

Now I have just some little jerks in my legs and my right arm will jerk when I'm driving.  If I try to keep my arm from jerking my leg will jerk instead, and then my arm will jerk.  They are not controllable.  The doctors at Mayo did a cervical spine MRI and thought that would be the most likely place for a lesion to show up with the particular problem that I had, but the MRI was normal (that was 9 years ago).

I'm sorry you are having such a hard time right now.  Definitely discuss this new symptom with your doctor.  Spinal myoclonus is just one type of myoclonus, and it can be caused by a few different things.  I don't know what caused mine yet.  Maybe someday I will know for sure.  Stress and being worn out always make mine worse.  Hope your appointment goes well, and if you have more questions about my experience with it just let me know.

Hi Sweetie....you have endured SO much.  And you still keep going.  I admire you so much, Samantha.  You are a real trooper.  I know that you have days where you are down and depressed, but you keep plugging along.

Gosh, I wish there was something I could do, to make all of this go away.  You are in such distress.  I wish the doctor's could come up with something that would stop all this jerking.  If the medical community would stop spending money trying to figure out how to clone another human being, maybe more money would be left for research that REALLY counts.

Hang in there dear.  I feel your pain.  Try to keep that chin up.  I know how hard it is, but we all have no choice...we have to keep going.

You are in my prayers as always....Heather

Hello,  I am undiagnosed, but i have a question.  I have been having really bad jerks at night while asleep and don't even know it.  My husband tells me about it the next day. He says i jerk really hard. So I am a little concerned, because I have severe left leg pain at times going on a year.  I also have two toes on my left foot that have hurt me for over a year when i first wake up and put my feet on the floor it feels like electricity in my toes.
