jerking/loss of smoothness when tilting head.

Hi,
Does anyone on this forum experience a loss of smoothness when moving their head.  I feel like my head or my neck feels like it's on a spring and sometimes when I move or rotate my head/neck I feel like it jerks as it's moving, like an intention tremor or clonus in my neck.  Loss of smoothness, this sometimes happens when I extend my arm right out, same sort of thing but in my neck...i notice it more if I flex my neck or tilt my head forward, same sort of feeling that I get one the Dr pulls your ankle back and your ankle keeps contracting or whatever it does..lol (clonus)

I am having trouble describing it, I haven't mentioned it to my neuro as I didn't think it was worth mentioning.

Not really bothersome, just curious about this.
Udkas.

I have a tremor in my head, and it can be a side-to-side shaking or a rocking, more commonly the former.  Once in a while the rocking seems to involve the whole torso, with my head moving to the right while my hips move to the left, and vice versa. Whichever of these I experience, and also with my sometimes hand tremors, the speed is usually the same, roughly 3 or 4 Hz, although sometimes the hand shaking is more like 5 or 6.

Hi,
What you describe in your neck sounds like what I have in my left arm. When I reach for something or stretch out my arm and hold it, its overcome by strong rhythmic jerking movements that feel really weird and scare me. Sometimes I have to ask someone else to grab my arm to free it from the uncontrollable muscle contractions. I assume this is a clonus, but I thought these usually happened in the foot or ankle. Has anyone else experienced something similar to this.

Thank you.

I will try some exercises, it doesn't feel stiff, just like it's on a spring or something, like one of those wobbly dolls..with the coil in their neck, not there all the time but it seems to be worse when all my other symptoms are worse.

Thanks guys.
Happy Easter.

Sounds all stiffened up to me.  What you describe sounds as if you have to force it up and the muscle is fighting you all the way there. Is that it?

I have stiffening issues, but not as you describe.  And, w/my neck, it's the left side that isn't smooth but in my case it's skelatal and crackles the whole way to where I'm going w/it.

I'd tell the Dr. But in the meantime you could see if stretching helps.  Might not make it change much, but if they gave up a little it sure would make moving about easier.

I have tremors in my head sometimes.  My doctor asked if they were up and down or side to side.  For me the movement is so fine I honestly couldn't say.  I would definitely bring it up to your doctor.
