lesions

So if I only have a few lesions in my brain which were not typical of MS is it possible to have them in my spine. I have never had a MRI of my spine. When I do have an episode it effects my legs the most. very weak and it take every thing I have to walk. hurts to stand or even sits to long. So I was wondering if it was possible to have more lesions in my spine. My last episode my doctor had x-rays  done which showed bone spurs. What do the lesion really mean and can move or go away.

In terms of MS, lesions should be "Demyelinating Lesions."

MRIs can show Hyperintensities on some sequences, that may be demyelinating lesions.  Not all hyperintensities are lesions.

Spinal lesions and other structural defects can effect the lower limbs.  My dad has osteophytes (bone spurs) that effect both of his legs, although 38 is pretty young for this.  EMG/NCS can be used to quickly determine if this is a root nerve/horse tail issue or something more CNS related.

My legs are not bad now when I had an episode with my MS it effects my legs. That is what happen this summer and my family doctor just did an x-ray cause he was afraid insurance would not cove it. So he had me do physical therapy which the Physical therapist said this is something with your central nervous system and sent his finding to my GP and Nero doctor. That is why they finally did a LP and found out I have MS.  So the reason I asked this is I was just wondering if my spine would show more lesions.

I have lesions in my spine.  Both my legs and arms are effected by them.  My symptoms never went away.  It is the reason that by the time I saw my last neuro and from reading on the net, I was pretty sure if I had MS it would have to be PPMS as I never remitted.  In other words there were no times that things just went back to normal for me.  

I know today that it is Progressive Relapsing.  I never remit.  Now that is not to say that when a flair calms down the damage stays as bad as the flair.  An example was the use of my right hand.  It was totally useless...floppy.  Today I have some use.  I can sign my name, use a knife to cut foods, use scissors but all is still a struggle.

I think it is important to get a 3t MRI of your cervical spine.  I have one tiny lesion on my brain but it has never been established if it is an MS lesion.

I think they think my lesions on my brain are from my granduloma tumor I had in 2002. That is why they were not really doing anything. I am kind of thankful for the episode and seeing a physical therapist at the time. to see how weak i really get. I am still kind of weak but still try to do what i can. Lifting stuff like my rooster (5-10lb) hurts my neck and arms.I try to do some yoga.  But I will talk to the Dr. this week and see what he thinks.
