medication side effects?

I started taking carbamazapine (aka Tegretol) last week and I'm wondering if anyone's had any side effects - so far I've got a yucky taste in my mouth, feel woosy and tired about 2 hours after I take it and have to lie down, my hands are shaky and I feel yuck

should I go back to the Doctor or persevere and hope the symptoms go away?  The symptoms the neuro wanted me to take it for are still here

I have not been on Tegretol but other drugs like it. Sometimes it takes the body time to adjust. Sometimes a medication just does not work for you. I am one that can not tolerate normal dosing. For me less is more. Luckily I have a Dr. who is the same way. Whatever you  do don't just go off it unless the Dr. tells you. Some of these things have nasty withdraw symptoms. I hope it gets better. I hate side effects.

Been taking it just over a week, 100mg twice a day - side effects can include drowsiness, Dr says he didn't think a low dose would produce many side effects and to keep taking it, i think a higher dose can cause side effects - I'll keep taking it and see how I go over the next few weeks

thanks

sorry I don't take this med so can't help with it...but I would tell your Dr... what does the side effects say online?  is it a common one...?  being woosy?

how long have you taken it...are you at the top level or uping the dose?
