.............must be my MS.......................

....must be my ms ..........
Sent by vic447 1 hour ago
So we went to the new neuro, I asked her to what percentage do you think this is PPMS, she said  80/20. YUK !  I have been pretty down > I am embarassed to say that ,when it is my husband that is sick. They are just giving him Baclofen for now. And we are to call if there are any changes. I guess we are waiting for the ugly MS monster to see if it is one headed or two. Jeff is still talking about "doing exercises to get my strength back"  Last night we were  watching Americas Got Talent...the young singer makes it through and his dad is hugging him and crying.....I looked over at Jeff and he had a tear !!!!   I asked him about it and he said ....no I am not crying ....it must be my MS !!!  I smiled and then  I had the tear. Just like him to come at this with humour. I noticed some bad things  though. His right shoulder droops badly and at night when we take the dogs out he sits on the driveway insteads of standing and playing with the dogs. Do you think that could be all the heat we have had ?

Today was a very bad day for my husband; he is not handling my dx of ms well at all. (I was dx'd this morning) My husband is helpless to do anything for me, he can't fix this one and he is going to go through the grieving process just like me.

Watching him struggle with this news today I thought of you. It’s so hard to sit by and watch. The amount of emotional energy it takes to care for a loved one; especially your spouse can be very taxing. I feel sad that you, like my husband have to go thru this. I wish I could just carry this burden all by myself.

You are showing so much love and concern for your husband - wow it's so wonderful to hear your devotion to your husband in your posts! Please don’t feel embarrassed to have bad days too; that’s what we are here for:)

  Hi there :)

As far as your question goes...Could the MS cause the emotional stuff w/ your hubby...

The answer is a big "YES!"  Some lesions are located in different areas of the brain that do affect our emotions. I am sorry to hear that your husband may have PPMS.

Peace,
~Tonya

Hi Vickie,
It really is good to see you.  I'm sorry to hear tht they think he has PPMS, but it could always be worse, right?  I know, that really sounds weak when you are facing this latest news.

Heat is our enemy - if you want to keep him up and active outdoors look into cooling garments.  They come in a variety of styles and while they aren't quite fashion statements, they do make a difference.  Even one of those neck wraps that you wet and wear should be helpful.

Depression is a common problem with MS - mnost of us have it in one form or another.  Be sure the neuro is discussing this problem.

We tend to overlook the caregiver - that's you! - and depression.  You could probably use a good chat with your own doctor over this and discuss the possibility of needing something to help.  Peer support, talk therapy, and/or anti-depression drugs all come to mind as options.

Come back often and keep us updated, ok?

my best, Lu

Good morning,

Not knowing what other symptoms your husband has  but my diagnosis I was able to know what I was working with and slowly it got better for me,  I was a mess by that time, sick and depressed.

Heat definitely is not good for us at all,,i just melt in the heat and try my best to stay out of it.  And it could be the fatigue, does he have the fatigue at all?

I am not in good shape this morning, sorry if this seems scattered, but i wanted to say hi anyway and stay up on your husbands progression if I can manage that.

Good luck and some.one who can help more will answer soon i am sure.

hugs, meg
