myoclonic jerks

I don't know how many of you have myoclonic jerks but I am finding mine becoming very bothersome. As amusing as my grandchildren find it when my hand jerks at dinner causing me to toss food across table off my fork or jerking and poking myself its starting to be too much. The other night as I was starting to put my fork in my mouth I jerked and stabbed my mouth causing it to bleed. I also have whole body jerks and leg jerks. My neuro says there is nothing to help it. Does anyone know of anything that helps?

Thank you for this information on keppra. Due to insurance and lack of neuros I can't switch although I wish I could but I can ask to try this medication.

First off, get a new neuro!

No, I'm serious.  I described my symptoms to my old neuro, and he said there was nothing we could do.  I went to an MS specialist, and she prescribed two Keppra a day.  My symptoms got better immediately.  I still have clonus in the mornings, and when I haven't been active enough, but the jerks are much better.
