Can neuro exams vary a lot when different doctors are doing the exams?

The original doctor who DX'd me with MS said I had bilateral babinski, right leg brisk reflex with clonus.

Reduced sensation on my right side.......

My new neuro says most things are normal.  No clonus, Nor brisk reflexes, no babinski, no reduced sensation.  Weird.

My new doctor confirmed my MS with a spinal tap.  So confusing.  I do have major weakness in my lower body which he noted in the letter he sent to my PCP.

In my experience yes. Sometimes they have varied with me with the same Neurologist. One guy looked at the same MRI and all my symptoms and the first time wrote no way MS and the Next time definitely MS because he had the LP by then.

Ah! that lp sure made a differece for me too.  I have 8 O bands.

Yes they can vary even with the same Neuro. One time I had unequal pupil response to light and the next time they are normal, same with my foot drop, and leg weakness.

I could be wrong about this, but since most MS is Relapsing-Remitting, it seems very possible that the difference from one exam to the next is not only the doctor, but also the patient.  I was positive for Romberg on one exam, then negative, and then positive.  I'd suspect the same could be true of Babinski for some folks.
