neuro physio

hi folks hope you are all well as can be
i went to see a neuro physiotherapist today i was refered by my podiatrist who prescibed orthotic foot insoles for me due to my foot arches collapsing. she said i had some increased muscle tone in my legs.
so today i saw her she asked me lots of questions about my pain, stiffness, walking difficulty, clonus, and took a brief history off me .
she then asked me to lie on a exam bence ask me to bring up my knees and she moved them from side to side very slowly . and then asked me to put my legs flat again. and tested the soles of my feet with a key my feet did nothing and she said interesting ? .and started talking about me focusing on my body parts and muscles and the posture of my body . she said it would relax my muscles ,she talked about a rehab training group that i would benifit from and to keep practising this at home on the floor on a mat and then made me an appointment for three weeks time.as she was booked up to then . i said i will have seen the MS specialist by then she said good.
i feel a bit let down as i thjought sge would give me some exercises and stretching to do.
i think she thought it was all in my head cos she said my muscle tone was fine ?? i said i had done nothing today other trhan come here (not walked much)
any thoughts ???

Bairdy, I think you may be reading too much into this. She might be the type who just doesn't say much, at least at first.

When you have seen the neuro, you will have more info (and it's always a good idea to be a bit worn out there, too). Ask lots of questions at that session. When you go back to the therapist, see how that goes. She may be more accommodating then.

Good wishes,
ess

Is this one of those docs where you can get a typed copy of her report of your visit?
She may have said more that she failed to converse with you.....

Bairdy,

Don't feel like a fraud, there is something wrong you know it and your body knows it. It is just a matter of finding out what it is that is wrong. Not knowing is the most stressful part of the journey, it can drive a person crazy.

Like ess said she may just be the type to not say anything at first until she actually sees the problems in action.

We are all here for you so don't forget that,

Paula

hi paula
thanks for your reply
i just feel a bit of a fraud at the mo it might just be me being on a downer !!
cos things dont happen all the time especialy when being tested .. lol
but yes i should have done more walking and moving around before i went to see her !
she talked about a brace for my left foot when i first went in as the podiatrist had written to her and said she thinks i would benefit from one . but never mentioned it again after being on the bench.
so it makes me think she saw something that disproves my symtoms ????
regards bairdy

Sorry you didn't get the outcome you were looking for. I hope that when you do get in to see her again that she can see there is something really wrong. I know this sounds crazy but maybe it would be a good idea to move around more before you see her so that she can see what it is like for you on a normal day to day basis when you are moving around.

Hoping that the MS specialist will have some answers for you as well. I hope that something finally starts going in the right direction for you.

Take Care,
Paula
