I use gabapentin also, 300mg 4x per day (1200mg total), which is considered to be a low dose, 3600mg daily is the max.

I could have lived with the nerve pains in my hand and arm, but the pain in my jaw and teeth was too much! Now that I think about it, I haven't felt any rib pain in quite awhile either.

I tried to cut back to 900mg daily, but the face pain started to come back, so I went back to 1200mg.

I can decide what dose I need without consulting my neuro up to 3600 daily. I just have to report permanent increases to my MS nurse.

Like Bairdy says,  work your way up slowly till the pain seems to stop. I would try to fine tune the correct dose by cutting back and increasing till you hit the sweet spot, then see how it goes over time.

Good luck

Mike

Neurontin (brand name for gabapentin) helps with nerve pain. It is very commonly used in MS. Another med for this purpose is Lyrica. If one doesn't work or the side efffects are too much, then the other can be tried, but the two are very similar.

Hope this helps.
