not feeling better on prednisone

I started having mild symptoms of tingling in my feet a week ago. I havent had any symptoms since being diagnosed 4 years ago and had a great mri report a few months ago. My doctor put me on a 10 day course of oral prednisone starting with 200 milligrams and tapering down from there. This is the fourth day and still no improvement. Actually some things feel worse. It this normal or should I give it  more time. I am getting so discouraged and blue.

First off welcome. Secondly prednisone is mood altering and can make you feel discouraged and blue. Third some people do better on an IV dose and some people do better on none at all. If you feel it is not working I would definitely call the Doctor tomorrow before we get into the week end. They may have some ideas if nothing else. Sometimes people do feel a little worse. It is individual.

All prednisone does is relieve inflammation. I am one of the few who has not taken it so far for MS. I have taken it for asthma and extreme allergies in the past. It can be rough stuff.

I have had foot tingling just go on its own. In fact I will just notice one day hey I have not had this symptom in a while. Sometimes it just comes and goes as do other symptoms.

A lot of stuff in MS happens in the gray matter which does not show up in a MRI which only shows white matter damage or inflammation.

Also the heat aggravates symptoms. I have had MS for 46 years and this is the first year I have noticed the heat really effecting symptoms in me.
