overheated

Well today I left my windows open because my electric bill was outrageous. That was the biggest mistake I could have made. It got very hot in my house and I finally closed the windows and turned on the air. I got extremely hot and started feeling worse and worse.

Well normally when I get over heated my symptoms get better and I feel ok again, well it is not the case now. I feel extremely weak and fatigued. My legs feel like jelly and I don't know why. It is not normally like this, usually when I get hot and cool down all the symptoms go away, well get better.

Maybe this is something more, not sure though. Any ideas?

Paula

Thanks Terri,

I do remember that post of yours about when you over exerted yourself. I know that I will not be doing that again. Saving money is important but my health is more important.

Take care and thank you for your response,

Paula

Hi,

Glad you are feeling better.

I wanted to tell you what happened to me a month ago just so you can avoid this.

I over-exerted myself around 11:00 a.m. one morning in the heat trying to wash down the side of my house with a brush.  For some reason this exertion using my upper body caused one of my most scariest heat episodes.  You can read my post on this for details if you would like.

I also know what you mean about the heat in the house.  Sometimes when I too try to do this, I tend to forget about it being too hot inside until I feel so sick, it finally dawns on me, and then turn the air on.

The heat scenario I think can be one of the most challenging for all of us.

take care...

Getting too hot always makes me sleep - usually about three hours.  Then I wake up feeling better - not great, but better.

Hey, Paula, try a cold shower or bath.  It does a lot towards bringing me back toward normal.

thank you to all who responded,

I am feeling better today, well the jelly legs are gone, still all shaky on the inside and still very fatigued. Boy its going to be another hot one today. Air is on and windows are closed. I won't make that mistake again.

Thank you,

Paula

It was a scorcher here in our part of the country .... the advice to drink lots is excellent.  Sometimes with these heat provoked reactions I recover pretty fast , but then other times it can take many hours.  I don't know why the difference  -

So get some rest tonight and see how you are in the morning.

I know what you mean about the electric bill, but please keep the AC on until we get through this week.

be well, be cool, Lulu

You may be suffering from heat exhaustion and dehydration. Drink plenty of water and rest.

Maybe it is because today with your whole house getting hot the duration of the over heating was longer and there fore the results are more dramatic. I know when my home gets hot it takes many hours for it to cool back down.
