Welcome to our forum!  I have had facial pain.  I think it's probably related to your MS.  I was diagnosed with trigeminal neuralgia (TN) by my neuro.  I've had it on the left side, and continue to get this pain on the left side.  It first started about my left ear, later in the left nostril.  In the last few days, my left cheek.  This pain isn't as severe, but is there none the less.

The pain was so bad above my ear, that I couldn't sleep for several days.  When the pain struck, I would throw my head back like someone was stabbing me in the head the pain was so bad.  I called my neuro, and got a prescription for Gabapentin, which helped.

Another welcome from me, Nettie.

Unfortunately, face pain happens all too often in MS, and it can be severe. If it is really bothering you, absolutely contact your neuro. There are various meds that can help.

Best of luck,

I have had face pain on my left side from my temple to the jawline, but never thought it was long enough or severe enough to consider it a symptom. It hurt and was gone with just a flash. Is this what they consider TN?

Just supporting what everyone has said.  Face pain is a common thing with MS.

Hope you are feeling better soon

Yes, it's possible.   The pain was sharp but tolerable because the there was much time between the attacks.  It was gone in a flash.

Months later, the intensity increased to feel like someone driving an ice pick into my head.  I couldn't control my reaction to the pain--I threw my head back just as it hit.  Then for three days it was off and on with about twenty lightning fast pulses at a time over and over again with ony five minutes of resting between!

As soon as my clock read 8:00 a.m. I called my neuro's office for medicine.

OMG, it could actually get longer and hurt that much?. I can honestly say that when it did happen, I grabbed my face but then it was gone, so I didn't think much about it. It has happened maybe four times but spread out over the past 5 months, I never really paid much attention to it because it was so short lived, very fast shock like feeling and that was it.

I did mention this to my neuro, but he didnt comment on it at all, it was when he noticed my hyperreflexes, he focused more on that.
