pain relieving cream for MS

Hi there! I'm a filipina and recently diagnosed with MS.  The right side of my back is so painful that it feels i'ts been stabbed a hundred times.  Is there an over the counter rub or pain relieving cream to lessen the pain?  i'm on betaferon.

Welcome here.  This is your first time at this site?

Are you Filipina, in Philippines.  I am living in Philippines, but not diagnosed yet..  

Can I ask who your neurologist is?  Is he an MS specialist?  How do you find him to deal with?

I have seen 2 neurologists here so far.  The first one told me I had MS without touching me or seeing my MRI (his intern had a look and a 5 minute exam), then later told me I didn't when the visual (except VEP) and nerve tests came back normal.  The second did a 2 minute exam (knee and elbow reflexes only) and brief history and told me I could possibly have MS, but when the repeat VEP came back normal (???) and the MRI did not have classic finding that she couldn't diagnose and would I like to try antidepressants?

Regarding the pain, I don't know of any cream - though maybe one with capascin (I'm not sure how that's spelt), might help - ask your doctor?  Tell him about the pain, maybe he can offer something to help.

Others here are more experienced than me.  They will chime in with answers.

I have been having accupuncture for a few months now.  I can't tell if it's made much difference for the neurological stuff, but it is really helping with dysmenorrhea.
