Hi Tiffany, I am new around here, and I don't know the answer to your question, but I'm sure someone will see it and offer some help.

I had two "areas of activity" on my MRI and one was in the frontal lobe and very, very small. The Dr said I could have been born with it, or it could even be caused by smoking. The other one, not so small, not so good. But even then, there are a lot of factors that have to add up for Dr to make an MS diagnosis.

If you have unanswered questions, maybe your mom could let you speak directly with her Dr? My mom has had a lot of health problems, and I know this has really eased my mind in the past.

What does your mom's doctor say?  Yes, there are other disorders that can cause plaque's on the brain MRI.  The answer lies with your mom's symptoms and what her doctor feels has caused this lesion.

If your mom needs someone to "talk" to about her findings or her feelings, both you and your mom are most welcome on this forum.  You will find alot of support here.

Best Wishes, Heather

Tell your mom that even if she feels that the doctor is wrong about the diagnosis, that we are a group of people that she can lean on.  We will be here for YOU and for her, honey.  You both need support from people that are going throught the same thing.

Tiffany it also is not unusual for people to go through "denial" when they get a diagnosis of MS, or for that matter any other ailment.  What your mom is feeling right now, is totally normal.  Please tell her that we want to help in any way that we can.

Hang in there dear, Heather  (Been diagnosed with MS for 12 years)  I am 54 years old now.  Just thought you would like to know...
