question about ambien

HI, Has anyone taken ambien and experienced side effects rom it?  I seem to be having dreams, not bad, but strange. Sometimes they appear to be real even after I wake up.   I have also heard of people having sleep walking while on it.

If so, do you have any other suggestions?  I could just take otc stuff, thats what i did before, but this was so much better and easier t take.

thanks,

meg ..who is having bad days lately !!

Meg,
That sleep under the influence of a rx sleeping aid feels so good if you have been sleep deprived for a while.  I can certainly relate ....

Exhaustion is an enemy of MS patients and if it takes help to sleep, then so be it.  That's better than putting yourself in greater risk of a relapse because you have worn yourself down.

sleep well, Lulu

Hi lulu,

I have never slept well nand have always has sleep problems.  I have used different things but for quite awhile i used otc sleep aids and i also used Melotonin.

I finally tried using a  rx for sleeping and it was ambien.  I had never slept so well ever before.

Dear Meg with the bad days and sleepless nights,
It occurs to me I didn't ask - what's keeping you awake?  Do we need to talk out solutions on sleep habits, stresses in your life, pain or a snoring partner?  I  should have noted that I took lunesta every night for 3 months or so.  then I stopped taking it because I felt like I needed to try to sleep on my own.  I still take it about every third or fourth night when the cumulative effect of being tired builds up.

Restless, Lulu

Meg,
Sorry that you are not sleeping well and the treatment is giving you side effects.

I take ambien but it doesn't make me sleep unless I take 15mg which is beyond the "safe" dose. They usually give 5mg or 10mg. That's not enough for me it just makes me go in and out of sleep.

I don't know how to spell it but years ago I was on something called remadyl. It was great. I am going to ask my doctor to rx it for me next week and give it a try.

Don't give up. Keep trying new things until you find the perfect fit for you. Sleep is the most important thing for our overtaxed bodies.

Hugs,
Erin

I had the troublesome dreams.  The label also indicates you may have s ex without realizing it while you take Ambien! :-)  I tried it - the ambien, not the unconcious  s ex and it left me feeling like I had a hangover.  I went back to Lunesta, which leaves a metallic taste in the mouth but not the hangover.  good luck getting zzzzzz's, Lulu
