rectal pain

Question

My sister has MS She has rectal pain that radiates into her vagina. Has any one else experienced this and if so what has helped with the pain. She has tried everything. Nothing has helped. This is debilitating

Thank you for your comments.  My sister lives in Baton Rouge, La.  The Neurologist there are not MS specialist.  She has talked extensively with her Neurologist regarding this pain  He has tried " ordinary Pain relievers" without any success.  He seems to be giving up on her.  I am an NP myself and I have seen this many times.  A physician who cannot "cure you" seems to give up.  After so many years, I am aftraid my sister is giving up too.  Has anyone who has experienced this type of pain, found something that relieves it.  She is not expecting " no pain"  She just needs for this to ease some.  Thank you for your advice.  GramNP

Hello :)  I do not believer that we have talked yet......
Has your sister contacted her doctor and filled them in on her symptoms?

   While it certainly be a nerve problem stemming from MS...It can ALSO be something tht could require a bit of investigating!  We have to remember not to just think that all of our aches, pains,and so on are from MS. 

    Hope she finds some relief and answers soon.

We actually have discussed this in the past.  There are so many nerves available in that region that can be affected with corrupted signals from our CNS.  Ordinary pain relievers will not work - but I'm guessing she knows that and has already tried something else for nerve pain.  

Hopefully she has discussed this with her doctor - most importantly tell her not to give up and keep trying different combinations until one works for her.
