regulating body temp

Does anyone have a hard time regulating their body temperature?  I seem to be warm and cold on and off through out the day.  Anyone else experience this?

thanks for the advice, I don't drink caffeine, no alcohol since October, so I guess that just leaves sugar.

I have had this problem from time to time.  My GP did finally dx with w low thyroid which I am not on meds for which has helped.

I also found that since my MS dx, I am just more sensitive to pretty much everything...noise, food intolerances, temperature variations, alcohol, sleep disturbances, etc.

Limiting SUGAR, CAFFEINE, and ALCOHOL  have helped me tremendously to minimize most of the negative sx.

Also, should an MRI of the brain show a lesion on the hypothalamus?  I would guess that it would, right?

Hi Bob,

No, I haven't taken my temperature.  If my temp is off, what can this tell me?

Feeling "hot" or "cold" can be sensory issue or a peripheral vascular issue.  Failure to regulate body temperature usually means that the core body temperature varies from the expected 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit by an unacceptable range.  Failure to maintain boy temp could be caused by a lesion on the hypothalamus.

Peripheral vascular constriction while maintaining your core temperature could be an issue of autonomic dysfunction.  Low BP and other things can cause the vasculature of the legs and arms to "clamp down" to shunt more blood to the core.

I guess my question is: "have you taken your core temperature when you "feel" hot or cold?

Yeah I feel this way too. When I get too cold my ankle freezes up and I have a hard time walking. When I get to hot, I am done for so me regulating my temp with cold fluids and warm blankets is a constant thing. I always have something cold to drink when I know it is going to be warm so that I can keep my insides cool. My thing is when my feet get cold I get cold so I need to keep them warm :) So don't feel alone it happens to others as well.

Same here.  The cold for me is easier to handle though.  My body feels more refreshed when I'm cold.  The heat makes me feel lethargic.  Nice to meet you to Misty!

Yes I am always either too hot or shaking because I am too cold. It doesn't always correlate with the air temps either. My neuro says my thermastats broken.

Hello, how r u?  Yes, I also experience this it takes me hours to get warm and then when I'm too warm I feel extremely tired.  I noticed that if I'm too cold or too hot it seems to cause worse pain for me.  I'm not sure why this is so, maybe others can come on and help u answer your question.

It's nice to met you. My name is misty

Take care
