Yes and no. The electrical shocks indicate a problem. There are several things that can cause them. The two most likely are lesions and/or a bulging disk. Have you had MRIs of the cervical and thoraicic regions?
I've been researching this alot due to my own symptoms. You can google Lhermitte's and see the 3 or 4 possibilities. I know that I have a bulging disk at C6. The neurosurgeon won't operate because he thinks I have MS. The neurologist is still in the dx stage. They are working together by sharing medical test results (this is actually a positive thing in my case). Neither of them wants me to have an unnecessary operation.
So my question for my neuro on 5 Dec appt is - these electrical shocks -- what gives? My PCP thinks it is MS. However with the bulging disk at C6 I think that is a possibility.
So - the shock sensations can be caused by several different things. One of the things is a lesion. Cheers, Jules
