small victories...

So if you read my last post,  I made mention that the MS Neuro listed "symptoms of depression" on my medical notes which I was not happy with (irony noted).  I had my video conference with the referring Neuro to go over the "findings" from the visit with the MS neuro and I questioned this added diagnosis and the possible implications of having that as "fact" from an observational stand point.

I am not saying one should be ashamed or embarrassed to be "depressed", and ...I probably do have some "situational depression", which is way different than "clinical depression".  My concern is that going forward, with that on my record, any future medical concerns I might have (not sure how many more I could handle), doctors would be biased and turn to the "depression" as the cause instead of digging deeper.

Well, surprisingly enough, my Neuro understood what I was saying and said he would let the MS Neuro know how I felt about it, and he LISTENED...the MS Neuro took that "opinion" off as part of my diagnosis.  He still left the observation that I was "tearful" during the consultation on my notes...but, I'll take what I can get!

Just wanted to share, that sometimes we don't feel like we have a voice...but we do, and to keep trying in whatever way you can to be heard!

Good for you! It's the small victories that make the journey more bearable. :)

Specialists need to understand how going through all of the testing in addition to living with the symptoms and the unknown can make a person emotional and frightened. While those things contribute to depression they are not actual depression.
