smokers vs. non-smokers and MS

Quix,
I was just reading a response you wrote to Holly and you said something about smokers and MS.  Could you please give me more info on that as I'm a reformed smoker and was dx'd 8/08 w/PPMS.
Thanks
Debbie

there is a very good patient page at http://www.neurology.org/cgi/reprint/61/8/E11 that helps to explain the link.  I'm an ex-butthead  and sure wish I had quit sooner.

In addition to this page which explains the damage smoking does to your body, there are also other studies that suggest that smoking speeds the progression of MS in already recognized cases.

I hope this helps - Quix will have a much better explanation for you.
