thanks for the good suggestions, all. i'll talk to my doc, too, cause as soon as i heat up, i swell up.
Yes, I knew this and every time I have to take lasix I have to take 2 extra potassium pills with it. Right now I'm down to taking 1 a day. You remember there for a while I was taking 7 a day. Once they took me off of the steroids I was able to cut them down to 1. Why I still have to take any is still a mystery, but I do.
I'll be praying,
Carol
One of the major side effects of Lasix is loss of potassium in the urine and lowering the potassium level in the blood. FYI

I have a lot of trouble with swelling in my feet, legs, and hands. My doctor thinks it's the lyrica, but it only happens once in a while, so I'm not so sure. I take lacix when this happens and it works real well for me. Luckily I have no side effects from it.
I'll be praying,

I wear my engagement ring on a chain as it no longer fits correctly and highly recommend it. Your dad will see it and hopefully it make him feel better.
How is the radiation therapy going for your dad?
Elaine
I have trouble with my hands swelling when i wake up in the morning so I just take my rings off at night now.good luck..

What meds are you on? It is a side effect with some of the meds we use for symptoms.
Get a pretty chain and wear the ring around your neck so your dad can see it.
I get severe pitting edema especially in my right leg, which has some kind of autonomic neuropathy in it. When I'm swelling I use Taurine 1000mg twice a day. It's an amino acid and an excellent (for me) alternative to diuretics which have all manner of nasty side effects. I learned about it from Dr. Atkins who was a superb nutritionist in addition to being a cardiologist.
I buy mine online, but a good health food store should have it.
